形态描述：根状茎粗而短或不发达，具须根。稈丛生，纤细，三稜形，高40-60厘米，平滑，无毛。叶稈生，线形，向顶端渐狭，顶端略钝或急尖，宽3.5-5.5毫米，纸质，边缘粗糙，两面被毛或仅叶背两侧的脉上被疏短硬毛；叶鞘在稈基部的无毛，几无翅，无叶片或有短叶片，在稈中部以上的具狭翅，被长柔毛，尤以近叶舌处为密；叶舌半圆形，顶端钝圆。苞片叶状，具鞘，鞘口密被褐色微柔毛；小苞片刚毛状，与小穗等长或稍长；圆锥花序由2-4个顶生和侧生枝花序所组成，支花序互相远离，长1.2-3厘米，具少数小穗，支花序柄长短不一，长0.5-5.5毫米，上部通常具狭翅，被微柔毛；小穗披针形，长4-5毫米，多数为单性；雌小穗具4-5片鳞片和1朵雌花，雄小穗具7-9片或更多；鳞片卵形至披针形，深麦稈黄色或褐色而微带紫，顶端急尖，具短尖，背面具龙骨状突起；雄花具雄蕊2-3个，花丝长短各花不一；子房近圆形，无毛，花柱不群。小坚果近球形或倒卵状圆球形，顶端具白色短尖，长2.75-3毫米，直径1.75-2毫米，无毛，表面具方格纹；下位盘黄白色，3浅裂，裂片卵状三角形或近圆形，长为小坚果的1/3-1/4，顶端急尖，边缘反折。花果期7-10月。
